Model Auto Review Competition

Ten times per year we have a free competition. All you have to do is send in your entry. All correct entries are put in a 'hat' and the winner(s) chosen at random. In the last year our prizes have totalled many thousands of pounds in value, all donated by our generous friends in the model car business.

COMPETITION MAR 259
AUTOMODELLO PACKARD

Jim Cowen donated this model as our prize, from his Automodello 1:43 handbuilt range, a 1938 Packard Twelve Convertible Victoria in ivory white. See page 14 for Harvey Goranson's review of this lovely model. At MAR we use a Hewlett-Packard printer, whose maker is unrelated to Packard cars. Our questions relate to people or other items with the same names as famous car marques:

1) The maker of the first 'vibrating shuttle' sewing machine in 1885.

2) He first propounded the method of logarithms in 1614.

3) Hull-based Oil Company which made Humbrol hobby paint tinlets.

4) The name of the Lockheed Model 14 Super Electra in wartime RAF service.

5) Italian diecast model range reproduced in later years by Scottoy.

Send your answers on a nice picture postcard to MAR 259 Competition, 81 Main Street, Monk Fryston, Leeds LS25 5DU, UK or fax to +44 (0) 1977 681991 or phone +44 (0) 1977 681991 (UK business hours), email editor @ mar.zeteo.com.

Answers must arrive with us no later than 20 February 2012. If you send answers by email, please add a postal address, or you won't be considered for a prize. The names of those who give at least three correct answers will be listed in MAR, along with all the answers.

Please note the closing date for this competition. Once again we remind you that the closing date is FINAL.
